Bids that Require Advance Preparation

Transfers after 1M-X starting with 1nt. Transfers also apply, starting with opener's suit, if we overcall 1M followed by negative X.

Defense to Weak/Strong NT- 2c=majors, 2d=1 major, 2h=5 hearts + 4+ minor, 2s=5 spades + 4+ minor

Defense to Strong NT (includes 15 HCP) - X=5+ minor + 4 card major

Weak 2 bids (white) can be very frisky (especially 1st seat favorable)

After 1m - 1nt(overcall) - 2c=unspecified 1 suiter, 2d=majors, 2h=5 hearts + 4+ minor, 2s=5 spades + 4+ minor

After 1M - 1nt(overcall) - 2c=clubs+other M, 2d=diamonds+other M

General Bidding Style

5 card majors with 2/1 game force

Opening 1nt = 15-17 and can have 5 card M

Opening bids tend to be fairly sound except 1M might be lighter than normal

3rd seat openers can be very light with 4 card M frequent (tend to be lead directional)

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

Rusinow vs suits if opener has known length in suit; otherwise standard; lead 3rd/low and in middle of hand; 10/9= 0 or 2 higher in middle of hand

Rusinow always vs NT with K the power lead; also lead Q from AQJxx(x); attitude leads and lead 3rd/low in middle of hand with interest in suit; 10/9= 0 or 2 higher in middle of hand

Defensive Signals

Standard carding and give count when helpful to partner. Priority of signaling is count, suit preference, attitude.
