Bids that Require Advance Preparation

Over strong NT's we play:
-- X = Penalty,
-- 2C = Majors,
-- 2D = Ds and a Major,
-- 2M = Natural

Over weak NT's we play:
-- 2C = majors
-- 2D = Ds + Major
2M Natural;
DBL = Penalty, but one minor or both Majors by Passed Hand.

Mini-splinters after 1M
Transfers after a 1M opening or overcall and opponent's X starting with 1N.
1M - 3C = limit raise in major.
Mixed raises in all suits.

General Bidding Style

Light opening bids depending on vulnerability.
With 4-4 in minors we open 1C if suits are equal in strength - otherwise we open the stronger one.
Favorable preempts at the 3 level are a wide range - may be very weak.
3rd seat openers may be light and lead-directing.
Aggressive competitive bidding non-vul.

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

3rd and low vs. suits.
Attitude vs. notrump.
A from AK vs. suits.
King is power lead vs. notrump and we lead the Q from KQ or QJ vs NT.
We tend to lead attitude in the middle of the hand unless count is more important.

Defensive Signals

Standard and frequent signaling.
Attitude most important.
King asks for count at or above the 5 level.
Smith echo vs. NT.
Suit preference if singleton in dummy.
