A 2 opening is very strong 22+ or equivalent playing strength OR what would normally be a 2 weak two bid. It is completely forcing.
A 2 opening is weak and shows both majors, (5-4) or better and 5-10- HCP. (Some allowances can be made depending on shape, position, and vulnerability) A 3NT opening is gambling in 1/2, showing a 7+ card solid minor suit and no aces or kings outside. |
We play 2/1, and open most balanced 11 counts 1/2. In 3rd seat we can usually be up to a queen less. 5-card major openings
We preempt light when NV and can have a five-card suit NV. We will very rarely have a 5-card suit V. Our minor direct overcalls over 1 or 1 are fairly sound. Our one level overcalls are usually fairly normal, and our two level major overcalls are fairly normal too. Our jump overcalls are weak and have a fairly wide range when partner is a passed hand or we are NV 14+-17 NT vul and 14-16 NT non-vul, do not upgrade often |
3rd/5th best against suits, 4th against NT. 2nd best from nothing, and usually will be done against NT. Honor leads are standard. Switches in NT usually signal attitude for that suit. |
Upside Down signaling, with a priority of Attitude, then count, then suit preference.
Signaling is often, and includes in the trump suit and discards. We play reverse smith echo in notrump |
