NT opening leads:
4th (usually high or second highest from a bad holding) Honor leads rusinow from 4+ (K power), standard from 3 or less. T = JTxx(+), KJTx(+), AJTx(+), T9x, Tx (maybe Txx) J = QJxx(+), AQJx(+), JTx, Jx (maybe KQJx(+)) Q = KQxx(+), AKQx(+), QJx, Qx (maybe KQJx(+)) K = power---asks count or unblock A = AK(+). We might underlead any honor sequence. Suit opening leads: 3rd from even, low from odd. Honor leads standard. A from AK except: - AK tight, - in partner's suit, or - 'alarm clock' K---usually shifting to a side singleton; or - at the 5+ level, or - when declarer opened at the 3-level or higher. In the last two cases, K asks for count. |
UDCA.
Against NT, reverse smith ONLY at T2 (unless honor layout is common knowledge, or if 'obvious' count situation). On A lead against NT, most encouraging (lowest) card asks partner to continue with the K. Attitude on partner's lead. Usually count on declarer's lead. Second card in a suit often suit preference. |
