General Bidding Style

Vanilla 5533 2/1 system, 1N: 14+ - 17

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

3rd/low against suits
4th against NT, but top or 2nd from xxxx

Rusinow at suits
NT:
- K power, A from AK
- Q from KQx(+), Rusniow from 4+ length for lower sequences

Ruisnow exceptions (but still K from AK):
- Partner's suit
- Declarer preempted
- Leader preempted and leading a different suit
- At 5+ level

After T1:
- No Ruisnow (but still K from AK)
- Attitude is primary concern
- When leading a low spot, 3rd/5th by default (can lead lowest from 4 if 3rd may be misread as high)

Defensive Signals

UDCA
Against suits, default to SP when it’s clear we can’t win a trick on power in the suit partner led
Reverse smith echo against NT
3-way SP (middle=encouraging) when signaling from a known 5+card suit

right-side-up remainder count

To declarer's lead of dummy’s shortness or their own known shortness, we give count by default
- But if signaling as 4th hand with partner winning the trick, revert to SP

Give SP when declarer leads towards dummy’s KQx(+) or attacks a combined holding of KQJx(+) and Partner wins Ace on the 1st round

Splitting honors:
- Low from HH
- High from HHH+
