Bids that Require Advance Preparation

2D opening is weak two in H/S (4-9). Five-card suit often at favorable vulnerability.
2M = 6+M, 10-13.

Responses and continuations after multi 2D:

--Pass = 5+D if vulnerable, responder thinks D plays better (opener usually passes unless he has no D tolerance), could be anything if not vulnerable.
--2M = Pass or correct (2S response willing to play H at the three-level); 2D-2S-2N = maximum H hand with shortness in C/D (3C asks: LH), 3C/3D = maxmum H hand with 4+ C/D.
--2N = Forcing enquiry. 3C = minimum or a 5-card suit (3D ask for the suit again), 3D = intermediate in H, 3H = intermediate in S, 3S = maximum in H, 3N = maximum in S.
--3C = 6+C/H/S, GF, puppet to 3D: 3H/3S/3NT/4C shows H/S/C (willing to play 3N)/strong slam interest or extremely distributional). If responder has C, he usually denies a 3-card M unless he has strong slam interest in C.
--3D = 6+D, GF, responder usually denies a 3-card M unless he has strong slam interest in D.
--3M = Pass or correct.
--3N = To play.
--4C = bid under your suit.
--4D = bid your suit.
--4M = To play.

Competition after multi 2D

--After double, pass shows D (responder thinks D plays better), xx asks opener to bid his M, 2H/2S/3C = natural, NF, 2NT = still forcing inquiry.
--After 2/3/4M overcall, double = pass or correct, 2N = game try in opener's M, C/D = natural, NF.
--After 3C/3D overcall, double = penalty, 3M = pass or correct, 4C/4D = still transfer, 4M = natural.
--After 4C overall (leaping Michaels), double = penalty, 4D = asks opener to bid his M, 4M = natural.
--After 4D overall (leaping Michaels), double = penalty, 4H = pass or correct, 4S = natural.
--2D-(P)-2N-(3C/3D), pass = H, double = S.
--2D-(P)-2N-(3H/3S), pass = I have the other M, double = my suit.

1C = usually 2+ except 4441C, can have longer D if 5D332. Transfer responses (1S = 4+D or balanced 6-10 HCP, with no 4 card Major except with a GF hand).
1D = unbalanced, always 5+D. 1H=4+S, 1S=4+H.
1C-2H shows a limit raise by UPH.
1D-2H is a three-way bid: balanced 11-12 HCP, a D limit raise, or a C invite by UPH.

1C/1D-2S is a mixed raise by PH/UPH.

1M-3C mixed raise to 4-card limit raise by UPH.
1M-3D 3-card limit raise by UPH.
1H-2S is invite in a minor.

(1NT)-2D shows one major.

Passed hand bidding:

FSJ except 1C/1D-2S.
1H-2S is a mixed raise with an unspecified shortness.
1H-2NT is a FSJ with 5+S and 4+H.
1S-2NT is a mixed raise with an unspecified shortness.

General Bidding Style

Light opening using the rule of 20: Open all balanced 11 when we are not vulnerable, optional when we are vulnerable. Open shapely 10 (9 not vulnerable).

1N = 14-16 1st, 2nd and 3rd NV, 15-17 3rd V, 4th
could be shaded in 1st and 3rd seat when we are not vulnerable (13 with a 6-card minor).

Often 5-card preempt at favorable vulnerability especially in 1st/3rd seat.

Respond very light when we are not vulnerable.

We almost always respond over 1C unless we have 5+C.

Lots of transfers and flip-flops in competitions.

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

3/5, Rusinow from 3+ vs suit, 2/4, Rusinow from 4+ except in partner's suit, dummy's suit, and preemptor's side suit, Reverse Smith vs NT.

Mostly attitude in the middle of hand.

0 or 2 through declarer and surrounding dummy's Q.

K from AK vs suits except from AK doubleton, ready to switch to a side singleton.

Standard suit preference and present count.

Suit preference when dummy has a singleton or declarer is known to have a singleton.

Defensive Signals

UDCA.

Attitude when we lead, count when declarer leads. Count is usually accurate early in the hand, suspect later in the hand. Suit preference when the attitude/count is clear.

Standard suit preference and remaining count.

Reverse Smith except in a hold-up situation when dummy has a long suit with no clear side entry (A or K).

Sometimes would lead small from doubleton for deceptive purpose especially when we can overruff dummy.
