General Bidding Style

5 card Majors, SNT (15-17). 5-card M common. Off-shape unusual

2/1 Forcing to game. 2/1 in comp. is forcing but can be light

Vulnerable, we pass some balanced hands with 12 HCP and slightly unbalanced hands with 10 or 11 HCP. Third seat can be pretty light

Can open 4-card M in 3rd or 4th, but only with minimum and good suit

We vary with 4-4 in minors. With 4-5, almost always 1C

Always a little more likely to open light with a good suit.

May respond with a very weak hand. Almost always bid 1S over 1H with 4-card suit less than GF and <3-card H's.

1M-1N is semiforcing, max. 12HCP

Overcalls are wide range - can be pretty light (but always a reason to bid).

Weak 2M is sound - never 5-card in 1st and 2nd - can be wild shape. No specific requirements. Multi is inferior weak 2.
3-level preempts vary with vul and position, but very rarely a joke except 1st seat fav.

Almost all low-level doubles not penalty. Action double.

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

A from AK, with exceptions (doubleton, switch to singleton, 5 level, partner's suit)
2nd from bad, 4th from honors
3rd and 5th in partner's suit
9 from H987

vs. NT
A from AK
K is power lead (count or unblock requested)
Q from KQ weak or QJx(x)
2nd from weak holdings, 4th from honors

Defensive Signals

Std signals trick one
Upside down count and attitude thereafter, except remainder count std when applicable
9 or 10 0/2 leading through small cards in dummy or leading around to dummy when it holds an honor
Smith echo by both vs NT at trick two

highest trump often means we want a ruff
