Bids that Require Advance Preparation

1m - (P/X/1D) - 2H: 5-9, 5S + 4-5H

Transfer responses after 1M - (X), (1m) - 1M - (neg X)

Transfer responses after 2M - (X)

Transfer responses after 2NT rebids (e.g. 1m-1M-2NT)

Transfers after 1M - 1NT (semi-f) - 2m to distinguish different hand types

Support doubles and redoubles below 2 of responder's suit, not including D (it would be general value-showing X for D). It's on over a 1NT overcall as well.

When we overcall 1M, and the next hand acts, 2N, jump or not, is a limit raise (4-card when there is cuebid for 3-card).

General Bidding Style

5-Card Majors, Strong NT 15-17, 2/1 GF, better minor (3+).

Opening: frequently open 11 counts. 3rd seat may open light.

Preempting: Weak, usually sound. Can be VERY LIGHT Fav 1st/3rd or NV 3rd. Could have another 4-card side suit (including major).

1NT range: 15-17, frequently upgrade good 14s or 17s with length, frequent 5-card major

We usually response with 4+ (with an A). Fav can response lighter.

We bypass 4-card majors after 1C - 1D when balanced. We do NOT bypass 4-card S after 1m - 1H even when balanced.

Our 1M-2M raise is semi-constructive (8-10), so our semi-forcing 1N response can include a 3(+)-card raise which is too weak.

In a forcing pass situation, X would be penalty oriented, pass and pull would be the strongest option.

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

Vs Suits:
- 3rd/low, unless suit was agreed (attitude)
- High from doubleton
- A from AKx for opening lead, K from AKx in the middle of the hand
- K ask for count/A ask for attitude in cash-out situations

Vs NT:
- usually 4th best, Hxx leads the third card if want partner to continue the suit
- Second high or highest when want a shift

General:
- After trick one, leads in a new suit are nearly always attitude. The lower the card, the stronger the desire to have the suit returned.

Defensive Signals

Upside down count and attitude, standard suit preference.

Vs Suits:

- K power lead ask for count / unblock
- Attitude on partner's leads

- Attitude when declarer leads a small card to a small dummy
