Bids that Require Advance Preparation

None really. We play transfers in a couple of slightly-unusual places (after X of 1M, and after 2N rebids).

Other mildly artificial stuff:
Two-tier splinters after a 1M opening.
3M-1 is a mixed raise.

General Bidding Style

Relatively sound/normal. Significant attention to vulnerability especially with pre-empts. 5-card majors, 1m shows 3+.

1-level overcalls can be almost a joke. 2-level usually sound to very sound.

Might open 4 card majors in 3rd and 4th with lighter hands.
Might also open 1D in 3rd/4th seat on a min. balanced hand.

1N is (14)15-17; 14-counts will generally have decent 5-card suit. Can conceivably include terrible flat 18-count. If white and/or in third slightly more flexible with upgrades.

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

• 2/4 leads: 2nd from suits headed by 10 or worse including from 109xx(xx).
• Returning a suit we play standard remaining count.
• Opening a new suit in the middle of a hand we show attitude.
• A or Q asks for attitude, K asks for count. Against NT K asks for an unblock of the Q or J if possible, otherwise count.

Defensive Signals

• Upside down count and attitude with standard suit preference signals and standard present count. First signals in suits led by partner are usually attitude.
• When following to trump or where partner does not need count we show suit preference.
