Bids that Require Advance Preparation

Over art or quasi 1m openers, 2-level bids are Suction. (Suit bids are next higher or 2 Lower, 2NT = CH or DS)

3NT Opener = Strong Major Preempt (Namyats).

General Bidding Style

1C strong with xfer responses and relays, 1D 0+ (2+ in 3rd) and natural 2C (9-15) and 2D (9-12) both 6+.

We open all balanced 10 HCP NV and all 11 HCP Vul, allowed to pass 10 HCP when Vul but still frequently open. Lighter HCP possible with shape. 1NT 14-16 NT, 13 possible but uncommon. 5422, 6322, 5 card major all common.

Over our 1M both 1NT (Semi-F) and 2C (Art GF) imply no fit, 2D is a Limit+ raise (3+ M)

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

3/low suits, 2/4 NT. Rus vs Suits in known length only; Rus vs NT always from 4+ cards.

Middle of the hand leads tend to be attitude based, but can be same count (3/5 or 4) when deemed necessary.

Defensive Signals

UDCA. Rare count, common S/P. No Smith, but S/P often played in those situations.

No "Present Count" type signals, very *very* rarely we might give UD "original count" - this would often be the 3rd or 4th card played in a suit, if ever. Much more common to be extended S/P to indicate strength of interest. (Mild, strong, etc.)
