Short club ( 1![]() Cheapest JS in response to 1any is artificial and shows a limit raise or better. Many of our X of suit bids below 2N are "do something" (not penalty) until we find a fit. We play McCabe over all non-game preempts, including in competition. Example: (1 ![]() ![]() ![]() 1M (p) 3N is a mixed raise that insists upon being in game. |
Generally a middle of the road 2/1 , 14-16 NT (15-17 red in third/fourth).
- 2/1 is a full GF, lower-ranking JS are inv - open most 11s with a 5-card suit and some shapely 10s. - 1 ![]() ![]() - one level overcalls can be aggressive - In third seat, we can shade strength but it is unusual to shade length - Lots of TO Xs until we find a fit, particularly below 2N - Preempts are normal-aggressive - UI's 2 ![]() - We don't psych much, maybe once every few years. UI more likely to do so. |
Suits:
3rd from even, low from odd, low from 3 little. A from AK , but K from AK at 5 level or higher NT: Attitude. Non-std honor leads. All leads below could also be from shortness. A=AKx K=AKJ or KQxx Q=AKQ or QJT J=AQJ or KQJ or JT9 T = AJT, KJT, T9x 9 = AT9, KT9, QT9 Middle of hand: attitude-ish Opening leads tend to be more passive than aggressive. against 1n-3n might lead from 3 or 2 as easily as (bad?) 4. |
UDCA
Against NT, reverse smith by both sides, unless trick one negates the need. We try to give attitude before count, with a bit of suit pref as best we can when. Philosophy is "what partner needs". We do signal a lot, but not religiously. |
