Bids that Require Advance Preparation

1m-1M-1N = any balanced hand;
Vs. strong NT: dbl= 4M+longer m; 2C= majors; 2D = 1 major; 2H= H + min; 2S= S + min;
1H-2S & 1S-3C = 4C limit+;
transfers after our 1M and (X);
mixed raises in all suits;
(1C)-2C = natural and (1C)-2D= majors;
(1D*prec)- 2H = majors

General Bidding Style

Light opening bids depending upon VUL.
With equal minor length we tend to open the one we prefer partner lead.
3rd seat openers may be light and lead-directing.
Aggressive competitive bidding when non-vul.

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

3rd and low vs. suits.
4th best vs. NT.
King is the power lead vs. NT.
Queen from KQ or QJ vs. NT.
Attitude leads in the middle of the hand.

Defensive Signals

Standard leads and carding.
Attitude takes priority vs. count.
Regular smith echo.
King asks for count at 5 level or higher.
Suit pref. if shortness in dummy.
