2/1 game forcing;
15-17 strong NT, 5 card major openings. We tend to open 11 counts only with some shape. |
Vs suit: 3rd from even, low from odd, but top of nothing if raised partner's suit in auction. Standard honor leads (usually A from AK). If in 5+ level contract, A asks for attitude, K (could be AK or KQ) asks for count.
Vs NT: 4th best from honor or 5+ cards. Highest from 3 small. Highest or 2nd highest from 4 small. Low from 3+ small if in partner's suit and never raised in auction. Standard honor leads (usually A from AK). In the middle of the hand, spot card leads are normally attitude (bottom of something, top of nothing). May choose to lead small from 3+ if we think count is more important. Lead is suit preference if trying to give ruff, or if dummy or declarer can ruff this round or next round, or if suit layout is known. Standard honor leads except K from AK vs suit, asking for count. |
UDCA. Standard suit preference. Attitude on partner's lead. Count on declarer's lead. Sometimes suit preference on any lead depending on the situation. Trump suit preference. |
