Bids that Require Advance Preparation

1C is 2+ only when 4=4=3=2, 1D is 4+

1m 2M Reverse Flannery (5S 4+H, 2H is less than INV, 2S is INV)

1M-2D is artificial and shows 3+M INV+
1M-2C is artificial and GF, can be balanced or have EITHER minor

(1N) 2D shows one major

We play some competitive transfers:
After 1M (X)
After (1x) 1M (X)

General Bidding Style

We open pretty much all 11s NV and ~50% of them V. We open some unbalanced 10s, especially NV. We frequently open light or very light in 3rd seat, especially NV.

1C is 2 only when 4=4=3=2, otherwise 3+. 1D shows 4. We usually open 1D with 4-4 in the minors.

1N is 13+-16 when NV and in 1/2/3 position
1N is 14+-17 when V or in 4th position

We frequently upgrade especially with 5-card suits, and may occasionally have a small singleton for our 1N opening.

Our preempts are modern aggressive, can be 5 in 1/2nd NV, but rarely otherwise.

2N in competition is very rarely natural: We often play 2N is a raise, and we play a lot of Scrambling/Takeout 2N

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

Suits:
- Honor Leads: Higher of touching honors, generally A from AK unless a doubleton or shifting to a singleton or something else unusual
- At 5+ level or versus a 3+ level preempt, Ace asks for attitude, King asks for count
- 3rd from 3 and even, 5th from 5 and 7 (low from a known 6+ card suit is an 'alarm clock')
- Can lead top from xxx if supported
- Attitude in middle of hand, mixed with some 3rd & 5th if giving count

NT:
- Honor leads: Rusinow from 4+ except KQx leads Q, King for count or unblock
- 4th best leads from an honor/'interest'
- Top or 2nd best from bad suits of 4+ cards (usually top from 3 low), we can lead 2nd best from an honor if we want a shift
- Can lead top from xxx if supported

Defensive Signals

Upside-down count and attitude and discards
Standard remainder count and suit preference
High-low in trump is suit preference or looking for a ruff, lo-hi does not carry a strong pref
3-way signals (middle enc, high/low SP) when the person signaling is following in a known 5+ card suit (lead directing X included)

NT only: Suit preference from both sides in Smith situations (no Smith!)
Suits only: After a discourage of an ace lead, the king asks for suit preference
