1 of a minor - 2 = 10-12 balanced. 1m-3m = mixed raise
1 of a major - 3 = 3 card limit; 1M - 3D = 4 card limit mini-splinters after 1 of a major opening. Vs. strong 1N we play meckwell and vs. weak 1N we play 2 = majors and 2 or 2 are transfers. New suits after our weak 2's are NF. Fit showing jumps by passed hands and transfers after partner's major and their (X). |
We open light based upon vulnerability. If light we tend to have shape or a good opening suit. 3rd seat openers may be lead-directing with sub-minimum values. 4 card majors are possible. Favorable preempts in 1st chair can be a wide range. Mixed raises in comp but if favorable can possibly be considered more preemptive. 5 card weak 2's are possible if non-vulnerable. |
3rd and 5th vs. suits and in the middle of the hand unless attitude more important. 4th vs. NT
King from AK vs. suits. King is our power lead vs. NT. |
Standard count and attitude.
Odd - even discards. Generally we give attitude on partner's lead. Standard count and standard remaining count. We generally only signal when it is important to partner. |
