Bids that Require Advance Preparation

We use Suction against your Strong Club, starting with 1NT and up. Notrump bids show two non-touching suits and bidding a suit shows either the next suit or the next two suits. For example 2H would show either Spades or Clubs and Diamonds.

General Bidding Style

2/1 Game Forcing with 15-17 NT.

Light style at favorable vulnerability and in 3rd seat, sound otherwise. We overcall chunky 4-card suits and preempt with chunky 5-card suits, mostly non-vulnerable.

Major openings show at least 5 in 1st and second seat, occasionally 4 in 3rd and 4th seat. Minor openings show at least 3.

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

Length leads are 4th best against notrump and 3rd/5th against suits.

Honor leads are standard, Ace from Ace-King.

Standard leads in the middle of the hand.

Defensive Signals

Carding is Upside-Down count and attitude against suits and notrump.

We give the signal that matters the most to partner, usually attitude first, unless count or suit preference is more important looking at dummy. When partner isn't likely to be involved in the defense, we signal randomly.

No Smith Echo.
