Bids that Require Advance Preparation

2/1 2: Either natural or balanced Can be as few as two. This is how we handle 3-c major support w GF. 2/1 2R is 5+-c. 1m-2: Rev Flannery: 5+4+ majors less than invitational. Opener's 2NT is minor get-out and 3 asks for further description. 1m-2: Mixed raise of the minor. We play transfers after our major opening or overcall is doubled. A transfer into the major is constructive at the 2-lvl and shows a high honor at the 3+ level. Vs Strong 1&2NT or /(dead NT): 2m: Nat + higher, 2M: Nat, X: relay for single minor, both majors or better spades. Vs Weak NT (less than 15 top): 2: Majors, 2: One major, 2M: Nat 4+-c + 5+-c m. X: penalty w 1st subsequent X take-out. 2NT & 3-lvl: Transfers w minors wide-ranging and majors invitational.

General Bidding Style

2/1, 1NT semi-forcing, & 2/1 2 can be 2-c. 14+-17 1NT may include a 5-c major or a 6-c minor. We open almost all 12s and many shapely 11s. One-level overcalls or take-out doubles can be light, but 2-lvl overcalls are usually good hands. Pre-empts are somewhat wide-ranging. Weak Two may be occasionally be 5-c and 2 may include a 4-c major.
