We tend to open mediocre 11 counts non-vulnerable and can open decent 11 counts vulnerable (Zach tends to open more). Occasionally, we will open 1M in 3rd (or 4th) with 4 cards, or very light.
1NT=14-17 (not all 14s, not all 17s) tend to be more aggressive with upgrading Non-Vul. May be semi-balanced. May have stiff honor. Preempts can be 5 card suits non-vul, especially 1st/3rd. We play new suit non-forcing if non-vul over preempts. We play an aggressive, but modern preemption style. |
Vs Suits: 3/5 vs suits, Coded 9s and 10s mid-hand or when bid and raised a suit. Ace from Ace-King except 5-level or above, if RHO is a preemptor or if leading partner's suit. Can lead Q from AKQ. Attitude against NT. Rusinow leads against NT where possible, but K power and A/Q attitude. Rusinow from known length vs. Suit contracts.

UDCA, Standard Remainder Count, upside-down discards, Reverse Smith vs NT. (T2 only)
We signal when we feel partner will need to know what to do and try not to signal when the opponents may need the information. Our primary signal is generally attitude; we tend to give a lot of SP; however if attitude is "Known" we give SP normally. When following, we can give SP or count. Our default signal changes to SP if we have shown 5+ cards in the suit. In general we play Suit Preference rather than Alarm Clock in situations where others may play alarm clock. |
