Bids that Require Advance Preparation

Our 1C could be doubleton if 4=4=3=2

After our 1C (could be 2 if 4=4=3=2) Pass 1 Red = transfer, 1S variety of hands (weak balanced 5-7 HCP or balanced 11-12 HCP), diamonds weak or strong, diamonds + major GF.

General Bidding Style

By today's standards, sound openers, especially with balanced hands (frequently pass 11 and a fair number of 12 HCP hands).
5 cd majors, but may have 4 in 3rd seat
1D = 4+
1C could be 2 if 4=4=3=2
1NT 14+-17, may have 5 cd major, frequent upgrades, infrequent downgrades
Weak 2 almost always 6 cd suit (vul vs not may have 7)

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

3rd and low vs suit (From xxx(x), if we raised partner's suit and lead it, high)
4th vs NT (2nd from weak holdings)
Std. honor leads vs suit (EXCEPT Rusinow from suits in which we have shown 4+)
Rusinow vs NT from 4+ (no Rusinow in suits bid by dummy)
Frequent suit preference in trump

Defensive Signals

Standard vs suit and NT, count and attitude
Smith Echo (high-low says "I liked it") vs NT
Attitude on partner's lead, count on declarer's lead
Present count right side up (high-low even number remaining)
Signals are frequent unless it would aid declarer more than partner
