The 2009 United States Junior Bridge Championship, which will select the two United States teams for the 2010 Patino Cup (Under 26) World Championship, will be held July 22nd-23rd in Washington, DC. The event is open to teams of 4, 5 or 6 players, all of whom were born no earlier than 1984 (see WBF Age Requirements). Three teams have entered the event (to see the composition of the teams, click on "Teams Entered" under Junior Trials in the menu to the left, or click here. With only three teams, the format will be a one-day 3 team Round Robin, with each team playing 30 boards against each other team on Wednesday. At the end of Wednesday, if one team is winning both of uts matches and is plus at least 30 IMPs in total, that team will be USA1 for the 2010 Patino Cup and the other two teams will continue to play a head to head match on Thursday (with full carryover of IMPs from Wednesday's match between those two teams) to determine USA2 for the Patino Cup. Otherwise, the 3-way will continue on Thursday and the top two teams will be USA1 and USA2 for the Patino Cup. For more information, including a preliminary schedule, you can download complete Conditions of Contest in PDF format. The Conditions of Contest are still in draft format but we anticipate that only minor changes will be made to them. The event is also subject to the USBF General Conditions of Contest.
